Game Project Classification Standard
A public framework for describing game projects more precisely: seven capacity tiers, an independence marker, and verification levels.
Problem
Labels like indie, AA and AAA are used everywhere but rarely mean the same thing twice.
What I did
A proposed industry standard with seven capacity tiers, an independence marker, and verification levels, published openly so the games industry can critique and improve it.
Result
Published openly as version 0.6, a proposal under testing.
A game rating takes the form A / I1 — Verified: the studio's production capacity (seven tiers, from C for 1–4 people to AAA for 200+), how independently it operates, and how well the claim is evidenced, from self-reported to third-party audited.
Awards bodies, grant programmes and platforms get something concrete to point to instead of "indie". The framework is open under CC BY 4.0, and anyone can classify a project in about ten minutes.
